MOM WAS NEVER QUIET…
Many days and nights without my dad were filled with strings of memories of mom trying to make the best of it. My dad worked a lot, many times on weekends too and late nights. We never felt unloved, and understood at an early age the importance of work.
I can remember mom in the kitchen always making us a hot meal, stressing that we got our homework done, and teeth brushed. I still remember the bubblegum flavored mouthwash and little Dixie cups we wished were filled with chocolate chips instead of mouthwash. We’d have bedtime at 8:30pm until our senior year of high school. The same routine each day we thought was boring actually set us straight. All the little moments of time went unnoticed when I was younger, but not now. I understand a little about being a mom, but nothing about the sacrifice my mom made for us every day and still does in our adult life. Being a mom is so different in modern times. You could say the 1990s were the last greatest generation to grow up in. Now, the clock is even faster and everyone wants to race.
All this to say is that mom is a huge part of this business and I could not and don’t want to do it without her. She and dad raised me and made me who I am today, good and bad, with a very hopeful spirit for the future and our history. I’m never looking forward to the day I have to do this without mom and hope it’s not soon, although her hands are hurting and we are growing very fast to a point we hope our building is a place of peace but also new people to help us work.
I know some of you get frustrated at our sales, and that we never seem to make enough, but just know mom is behind the scenes working more than 12 hours a day to make it happen. Thanks, mom.
